Schneetarn poncho! These white cotton ponchos are a quick way to conceal yourself (and gear) in snowy conditions. Schneetarn snow camouflage was introduced to the Bundeswehr from around the mid 1960's.

While not providing much in the way of warmth or waterproofing, these ponchos provide fast and excellent concealment. The addition of brown-green needley sprays to the white is usually more effective in camouflage than a flat white snow cover, especially in forested, snowy environments. In barren snowy environments, you can just reverse the poncho! Longer in the back, these have pack and gear coverage in mind. Pop your arms through wrist openings and ties to the sides and interior aid fit and reduce the poncho billowing up. Bright white is hard to keep pristine and not surprising for their age, most have some staining or discolouration. Despite this, they are still great for winter hunters or collectors.
